This year we are going to try something new…
Things are starting to open up again and hope is in the air, so let’s try and do this.
We had no idea how things would develop this year; many of our venues have been closed and some have reinvented themselves.
Lockdown made us wary about embarking on an all-singing, all-dancing Leytonstone Arts Trail. However, we have been considering changing our format for a while now. Whilst we love the way the Arts Trail has developed it is an opportunity to experiment and change a few things.
We have been keeping an eye on the “Jumble Trail” model and this year we are going to try this out. Much as we love the beautiful guides that have been produced over the years, we recognise that they take a lot of time and money to publish and distribute.
So how will it work this year?
We intend to use Ticket Tailor for registering exhibitions and then develop a map on Google to give people the locations. This can then be viewed on your phone or tablet or printed off from your computer.
A small fee of £5 will be charged to show commitment and cover basic costs. If we have funds left over we may be in the position to make a charity donation.
This will also mean that people who often put a lot of work into window and garden displays for the “Lets Fill Leytonstone with Art” project can also opt to become part of the formal trail. People don’t have to register for this but it will make a better trail the more people decide to participate.
What will the dates be?
We will stay with our usual dates; the first two weekends in July – 3/4 & 10/11.
Of course, things can stay up after that with permission from the venue owners.
What do we need to do now?
Now is the time to decide if you want to find a venue. This could be a cafe, local business, community hall or it could simply be your front window or your garden. Secure your venue and later we will send out the link for registration.
